Same Day Answers
At any of Get A Mammo - SMIL’s breast imaging centers, we now give every woman her screening results approximately 15 minutes after completing her exam. We also offer same day follow-up exams to significantly reduce the fear factor which leads some women to delay or even avoid vital follow-up. Learn about our same day answers for breast screening results.
Know Your Risk Number
It is a good idea to understand your personal breast cancer risk. For most women, the average lifetime risk of developing breast cancer is 12 percent to 13 percent. Know your breast cancer risk number.
Breast Density cannot be determined in a physical exam, only by imaging. Even with the best screening digital mammography, dense tissue can be hard to see through. Learn about breast density.
Scottsdale Medical Imaging (SMIL) was one of the first healthcare providers in the nation to offer breast tomosynthesis, otherwise known as 3D mammography. The latest advance in breast cancer detection, 3D mammography allows SMIL radiologists to see through dense breast tissue or overlapping tissue in the breast, sometimes a limiting factor on regular 2D mammograms. Learn about mammography.
Breast MRI is predominantly reserved for high-risk patients or as a problem solving tool. This includes patients with known breast cancer, patients with a breast cancer gene or patients with a high-risk lesion or prior biopsy. Learn about breast MRI.
Breast Ultrasound and Breast Biopsies
Breast ultrasound is used in conjunction with mammograms. Often a mammogram alone won’t reveal if a mass is benign or malignant. As an alternative to surgical biopsy, Get A Mammo - SMIL offers several minimally invasive breast biopsy procedures. Learn about breast ultrasound and breast biopsy.
Positron Emission Mammography (PEM)
PEM technology can detect breast cancer as small as a grain of rice. Get A Mammo - SMIL is the first and only facility in Arizona to offer PEM. Learn about PEM.
